The monument at Torony Square erected in 1948, in commemoration of ceremonies for the Revolution of 1848, was bestowed with the supplementary inscription „1956“ on June 22, 1989. Thus, it not only honours the victims of the Hungarian peace movement in the 19th century, but likewise commemorates the victims of both World Wars and the 1956 Revolution. The facility – whose originating artist is unknown – consists of a stone plinth with the Hungarian double cross, the mythical turul bird, and behind it, the national flag upon it. On the plinth, the engraved dates „1848“, „1948“ and „1956“ can be seen.
